Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 large cloves garlic, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
Servings 2
Prep Time 10 minutes (plus 40 minutes marinating)
Cook Time 15-20 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 10 minutes
How To Make It
  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, grated garlic, and cracked black pepper. Pour ½ cup of the marinade into a small dish and set aside. Place the salmon fillets flesh-side down into the remaining marinade, ensuring the sides and skin are well coated. Cover and marinate for 40 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  3. Remove the salmon from the marinade and place it on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets.
  4. After baking for 10 minutes, baste the salmon with the reserved marinade. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). For crispy edges, move the baking sheet to the top rack for the last 1-2 minutes.
  5. Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for 4 minutes, covered. Serve over a bed of rice, garnish with toasted sesame seeds (optional), and pour the remaining sauce from the baking sheet over the rice for extra flavor.
  6. Pair with steamed vegetables for a balanced meal. Enjoy!
