B Corp Certification means that Community Natural Foods has been verified as meeting B Lab’s high standards for social and environmental impact, that it has made a legal commitment to stakeholder governance, and that it is demonstrating accountability and transparency by disclosing this record of performance in a public B Corp profile. Our assessment results will soon be available publicly for anyone who’s interested.
What is a B Corporation?
Never heard of that, or not sure what it means? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. In short, B Corporations represent a global movement of people using business as a force for good. B Corps meet higher standards of social and environmental impact, transparency, and accountability to stakeholders, rather than just shareholders. You can think of it like certification for an entire business, what Fair Trade is to a cup of coffee, or Certified Canada Organic is to our produce selection.
What does the B Stand For?
B stands for Benefit for all. The B Global Network mobilizes the B Corp movement to change our economic system to positively impact all stakeholders — workers, communities, customers, and our planet.
Continuous Improvement
The B Corp movement is about responsibility, but it’s not about altruism. B Corp Certification does not mean that a company is perfect, nor that it has achieved its highest impact. It does show that it is part of a global community of business working collectively for economic systems change, and that in order to stay committed to this work it must meet rising standards for social and environmental performance.
